Brianna your portraits are truly beautiful, and I love watching where you take them all the time. Who are your models? Do you ask friends to sit for you?

Thank you so much Jasmine! My models are almost always my friends and/or people I know (who I creepily ask if I can paint them). I then stage a photoshoot with them. I usually use my phone camera or borrow one of my friend’s fancy pants cameras if available. The shoots usually last thirty minutes to an hour, and I somehow end up with 100-200+ photos which I then narrow down in order to fit the composition I have in mind.

Well, it seems like 2013 is already off to an unbelievable start!! My painting, “Saving Fish from Drowning”, has been featured in Blick Art Materials’ 2013 Winter Catalogue!! I don’t even know what to say. The printed catalogue should be coming in the mail very soon!!!

Opening TOMORROW: For Nevermore, our artists are taking their own inspirations from the classic work and dissecting elements and themes from the work. From portraits of the mysterious Lenore, to the stone cold bust of Pallas, alongside portraits of the loquacious raven and even Edgar Allen Poe himself, the gallery walls will house works inspired by one of the most famous poems ever written. The exhibition will be on display through January 6, 2013 and is free and open to the public.
